TL

Tan Li Wei

Daughter, Bishan

My mother moved into Stonehaven eight months ago, and the transition was much smoother than I expected. The staff took time to learn her preferences β€” she likes to have her breakfast later than most β€” and they accommodated that without making it seem like a problem. The coordinator, Rachel, keeps me updated every week, which gives me peace of mind.

Ahmad Kadir

Son, Tampines

We started with the assessment stay, and the report they gave us afterwards was really thorough. It helped us understand what level of support my father actually needed, which we had been unsure about. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. My only note would be that visiting parking can be a bit tight on weekends.

Margaret Seow

Daughter-in-law, Toa Payoh

My mother-in-law attends the puzzle and games programme, and she genuinely looks forward to it. She used to spend most of her time at home watching television, and now she has a group of friends she sees regularly. The facilitator is patient and keeps the atmosphere light. It has been really good for her mood and sharpness.

Rajesh Nair

Son, Ang Mo Kio

What I appreciated most about Stonehaven was how honest they were during the initial conversation. They did not oversell the place or make grand promises. They just walked us through what the day looks like, what the costs cover, and how they handle concerns. That straightforwardness meant a lot to our family.

Christine Wong

Daughter, Woodlands

My dad was initially reluctant about moving into a care home, but the assessment stay was a gentle way to ease into it. He got to see what daily life was like without any long-term commitment. By the end of the second week, he told me he felt comfortable there, which is not something I expected him to say so soon.

Siti Hamidah

Granddaughter, Jurong East

My grandmother has been a resident for over a year now. What stands out to me is how the staff treat her β€” with real warmth, not just professional politeness. They remember the small things she cares about, like which seat she likes in the common room. It makes a difference knowing she is somewhere that feels familiar to her.

Family Journeys

A closer look at how some families navigated the care decision and what happened along the way.

From Assessment Stay to Long-Term Comfort

Challenge

Mr. Ong, 82, had been living alone after his wife passed away. His son noticed that he was eating irregularly, skipping medication, and becoming more withdrawn. The family was unsure whether he needed full-time care or just more social interaction.

Approach

The family arranged a two-week Assessment Stay at Stonehaven. During that time, the care team observed Mr. Ong's daily patterns, nutritional intake, medication adherence, and social engagement. A written assessment was prepared at the end of the stay.

Outcome

The report helped the family see that structured support would address Mr. Ong's needs more effectively than occasional home visits. He transitioned into the Residential Care programme, where he now follows a stable daily routine and participates in group activities. His son reports that his father seems noticeably more content.

Staying Sharp Through Social Connection

Challenge

Mdm. Lee, 76, was still living independently but spending most of her days at home alone. Her daughter worried about cognitive decline and isolation, but Mdm. Lee was not interested in full-time residential care. She wanted to stay in her own flat.

Approach

Mdm. Lee joined the Puzzle & Games Social Programme, attending four mornings a week. She started with simple card games and word puzzles, and gradually moved to mahjong and collaborative jigsaw puzzles as she grew more comfortable with the group.

Outcome

After three months, Mdm. Lee had formed close friendships within the group and was noticeably more talkative and engaged during family visits. Her daughter says the programme has given her mother something to look forward to each week β€” and that the morning tea is a highlight she mentions regularly.
